Visit Northern California’s largest state park
If you’re looking for beauty, history, and some of the most spectacular natural sites in the world, be sure to visit Humboldt Redwoods State Park, Northern California’s largest state park.
Located in northern California along scenic Highway 101, approximately 52 miles south of Eureka and 217 miles north of San Francisco, Humboldt Redwoods State Park is home to the largest contiguous redwood forest old on the planet.

To say the trees here are massive would be an understatement. To see some of the largest redwoods here, visitors can walk through the famous “Avenue of the Giants”. Stretching 32 miles, it parallels Highway 101, winding through some of the most beautiful scenery in the country.

Overall, Humboldt Redwoods State Park spans over 53,000 acres, making it not only the largest state park in Northern California, but also the third largest state park in California. Golden State State. Within this expanse, the redwoods cover 17,000 acres.

There is so much to see and do that you need at least 3 days (preferably more) to really get out and enjoy all that this beautiful park has to offer. Whether you’re a horseback rider, hiker, or cyclist, you’ll find 100 miles of amazing trails that meander through a variety of terrains.

Between three different campgrounds, Humboldt Redwoods State Park offers more than 250 campsites! So whether you prefer a tent, pop-up, camper or motorhome, you’ll find a site to suit your needs and desires. Within this, there are also camps specifically designated for horses, groups, the environment and trails.

The park is open all year round. Some of the most popular spots besides the Avenue of the Giants (a self-guided driving tour is available at the Visitor Center) include the Rockefeller Loop, the Founders Grove Nature Trail, and the big daddy of them simply called “the giant tree”.
These so-called “living fossils” bear witness to the wonders of Mother Earth. However, they must be protected from harm due to human influences in order not only to survive, but to thrive for generations to come.
For an awe-inspiring experience worthy of a multi-day adventure, head to Humboldt Redwoods State Park.
